On Monday, May 5, 2014 over two hundred graduates received their degrees and joined the Crown Alumni family. It was a very special evening with many friends as young people completed degree programs in the School of Ministry, School of Education, and School of Business in the College. This year the first graduates received their diplomas from the Crown School of Trades and Technology. The Crown Graduate School and Seminary also had a wonderful graduating class. It was a special joy this year to see graduates from many of the 36 Schools of the Bible nationwide participating in the commencement to receive their Biblical Studies Certificate.
At the conclusion of the commencement exercises Pastor Sexton honored two of our long time faculty members with honorary doctorates:
Dr. Ed Reese and his wife Margaret have the served the Lord faithfully for more than 64 years. Dr. Reese has served as a pastor, evangelist, musician, missionary, educator, and author. He has worked with numerous Christian organizations in 26 states and 4 foreign countries. As a lifetime student and researcher, he has established Reese Religious Research, a massive information base of Christian history that services numerous Christian institutions. He began teaching at Crown College of the Bible in 1996 and has made a tremendous contribution to the missions and music departments of the college. He is the author of many publications, including the Reese Chronological Bible and the Reese Chronological Encyclopedia of Christian Biography.
Dr. Barry Britton is from a family with a long history of service to our nation. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1970, served in the U.S. Army, and retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He has earned multiple advanced degrees in Engineering, Science, and Business Administration.
Following the Lord’s direction, he relocated his family to Knoxville from Long Beach, California in 1993. He became a member of the Crown faculty, teaching in the fields of Mathematics, Education, Business, and Science over the past 19 years. He and his wife, Midge, have been married for 37 years and have been blessed with 8 children and 10 grandchildren.
